Billy Elliot ain't the only new kid on the block; Mark 'Brassed Off' Herman's Newcastle-set working class comedy drama is another British filmmaking gem.

Amazing Adventure Tours on Vancouver Island
For folks looking for a holiday that involves lying on a beach and sipping a margarita, don't read any farther, you'll love the story that I have for you.
Vancouver Island, found off the west coast of English Columbia is home to well over seven hundred thousand Canadians. For the full story, check out Travel guide Vancouver Island and read on for a short summary.
Trapped by the spotless waters of the Pacific Sea, the island's mild climate, which is steady across the year, makes it the ultimate place to go to and retire for older age groups. For years Vancouver Island has been a choice destination for singles, couples and groups of folks in the 'over-50' age class. My problem lies in the proven fact that only a part of the international travelling community recognizes Vancouver Island ( V.I. ) as a place to be visited in their lifetime. I feel this is occurring because it's been well liked by a specific age group for a significant period of time and younger visitors are failing to note V.I, not realizing all that it has got to offer younger generations.
Whether you're searching for the final adrenaline hit of diving off the 1st legal bungy jumping bridge in Northern America or swimming hundreds of meters under the surface of the emerald sea, in what's been named one of the finest cold-diving destinations in the world, V.I. The internet site www.viadventures.net is an ideal example to the variety of recreational and journey activities that V.I. Has to supply, except for so many years have gone comparatively unobserved. The internet site operates as an escapade directory to each sort of activity offered on the island. Fishing, hiking, surfing, canoeing, sailing, diving, surfing, skiing, paragliding, pony trekking, wake boarding, caving, trail biking, rock climbing, you mention it, Vancouver Island possibly offers it! If you do not listen to me, check out VI journeys for your self, you won't be disenchanted. Don't be scared to get wet, get grimy and experience the final excitement. To your itinerary and permit yourself to experience the wilder side of Canada's west coast.

Pere Calders
The Barcelona Centre of Contemporary Culture shares the rich work of Catalan writer Pere Calders in this exhaustive literary exhibition. Beginning with his early years as an activist-writer during the Spanish Civil War, the show details Calders' life through photos, films and extensive written material. The author spent 23 years in exile in Mexico, where he formed part of a creative community of fellow Spanish refugees, before returning to Barcelona in 1962. One of the few Catalan writers to be widely translated, Calder's literary universe forms a complex and profoundly imaginative mirror of human reality.

Shop and Rock!
Fast becoming a holiday tradition among DC's rock and roll community, the Black Cat's one night only 'Shop and Rock' is a flea-market/yard-sale/record-hop/swap-meet that combines the best elements of each. Last year, Guy Picciotto of Fugazi spun some of his favourite discs - including a heavy dose of Beatles - while shoppers sipped beers and browsed tables full of items ranging from motorcyle-chic to genuine rock-and-roll souvenirs. And records... lots and lots of cheap, used records.

Perseus
Benvenuto Cellini's superb bronze statue of Perseus has always been the most important piece of sculpture to be sheltered in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Piazza Signoria. Sadly, he has been hidden away in the depths of the Uffizi gallery undergoing extensive restoration for three and a half years. Now, the life-sized statue, a mannerist masterpiece that took Cellini ten years to complete, is back in its rightful place under the Loggia for all to see whenever they wish.

Voyage of Discovery
This comprehensive exhibition looks at the landscape photographs of Ray K Metzker. Presenting over 100 prints, 'Voyage of Discovery' illustrates the extensive range of Metzker's creative investigations in landscape photography. Previously known for his bold, urban images, he turned to capturing natural landscapes in 1985 after an autumn trip to Tuscany. Hooked on capturing the mystique of the natural, Metzker began to perceive his subjects as metaphors for the human situation, which has led him to often blur the distinction between his subjects and the natural background.

Eklektika's Women's Nights
Although Budapest doesn't have a bar that caters exclusively to lesbians, women take over the Café Eklektika on the second Saturday of each month for the popular 'Lesbian Party'. Drink, dance and mingle until dawn in a comfortable café setting, located in a side street just near Deak ter, Budapest's busiest intersection. During the rest of the month, the Eklektika is a gay-and-lesbian friendly space, but these parties are especially for girls.

Five
One of Britain's jollier boy bands who release half-decent pop songs as opposed to a succession of mumsy ballads.
